I am
a 21 year old, fourth year undergrad studying Computer Science
at PESIT in
Bangalore, Karnataka. This is a four year, eight semester course
designed by VTU.
My main interests are computers,
programming, mathematics (science), event organization, literature
and badminton.
I have been involved with computers since I was
four and thus, am pretty proficient in their usage (apart from the
fact that I cannot go for more than twelve hours without laying hands
on my computer atleast once.. ;) ). My OS of choice is Debian GNU/Linux.
Find out more about my computer work environment here.
I am pretty proficient with C and C++. I have had
the best training any one could hope for in the form of PPR,
conducted by Mr. Vijayan. This course was wide-ranging: C/C++
intricacies, algorithms and implementations and compiler & OS internals,
to name a few. The basic objective of this whole course is to mould
good programmers, taught in the framework of C/C++.
I have an aptitude for (and interest in) mathematics
and science in general. I find myself easily attracted to high math
mainly because it involves a lot of logical reasoning.
Event organization is, by far, the one activity
which I've spent most time on in my college and school years. In
the XII standard, I was one of the chief organizers in bringing
out the school magazine, the first in ten years. In college, I
was one of the chief organizers for Aatmatrisha 2001 and 2002 (the
college fest) and Techniche 2003 (the technical fest organized
by Clarion, a student body in PESIT). I was president of Clarion
for the year 2002-2003.
Badminton is more of a passion than an interest.
I have been playing since I was 12 and though not exceptionally good
at it, I can hold my own against most players. :D
I love watching TV, whenever I can spare the time.
Of course, till my second semester, it was the other way round. I used
to schedule my day around my favourite programmes. A spectre of that
mania still exists to some extent, I guess. Taste-wise, I have a pretty
good mix of genres. For humour, I like to watch The Simpsons, Futurama,
Frasier and Whose Line Is It Anyway? . Star Trek: The Next Generation
is my favourite sci-fi series (I think Patrick Stewart is one of the
most underrated actors..). My weekly dose of drama comes
from JAG, Boston Public and The Practice. I am a big fan of Late Night
with Conan O'Brien which used to come on CNBC India, but has been stopped.
Ditto with Jay Leno's The Tonight Show.
